Spring Fling

Spring is finally here and I cannot contain my excitement. It seems as if the winter just would not go away. It’s still a little chilly out but I can definitely feel the warmer temperatures peaking around the corner. So you can imagine my excitement pulling this thrifted floral number out my closet. It’s lightweight and perfect for those in between days when it’s cool out.

Prints

Isn’t it awesome you can throw cheetah print over pretty much anything and rock it as a neutral? I did just that with this simple fit, the print adds that extra bit of dazzle and takes the outfit from street to chic. This outfit was so comfortable definitely something I could throw on every day.

Furs Galore

This fur has been my saving grace this winter. With all the snow and near freezing temperatures I have practically been living in this thing. I refuse to put it away, it just wouldn’t make sense. Can you believe I actually snagged this beauty at a local thrift store in Brooklyn. Hands down it has been my best purchase since moving. No one told me the winters here would be so brutal but thanks to this faux fur feat, I think I’m handling it with style.

Lulu's Style Studio

 

The longer I live in this city the happier I am I decided to move. Last week I attended the “LuLu’s Style Studio” event to kick start fashion week here in New York City. The event was AHH-MAZING. Every attendee had the opportunity to shop the “Style Studio Closet” and we were all gifted with new products in our goodie bags. I chose this black one piece from the style closet. I must admit it was very hard to find one thing I loved because I loved it all. Lulu’s has such an amazing assortment to fit all body types. However, I believe this one piece embodies just the perfect amount of comfort and  flare. The off the shoulder appeal gives you a little sexy without compromising comfort. Can we say WINNER! I paired it with my leather and fur satchel to give this look a little texture and finished it off with my knee high leather boots. It was a great time meeting new faces and I even saw some other bloggers from home which was a pleasant surprise.

What a great background right? I recently stumbled across this graffiti encrusted wall while walking around in my neighborhood a few days ago and knew I had to do a post with it. My pink hi-low Topshop shirt, leather shorts and leather knee high boots was the perfect match.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmassssss loves…. I hope each and every one of you has a great holiday. This is my very first Christmas away from home. While I am homesick like crazy, and work won’t allow me to pack my bags and get on the first train smoking to the DMV I guess you could say I am finding comfort in new beginnings. It’s crazy how you embark on a new journey with your mind set on your goals and dreams not really realizing when the holidays roll around you tend to miss the comfort of having the ones you love so close to you. I’m sure I will be alright… nothing a little egg nog, facetime with family, and Christmas carols won’t fix hopefully. In the meantime, I hope you guys have an awesome Christmas and don’t forget to pray for those that are less fortunate or grieving a loss. This time of year can weigh heavy on a lot of people so just keep them in your prayers. Talk to you soon.

Going Green

Can you guys believe Christmas is 9 days away? Seems like this year flew by, and what better way to get into the holiday spirit than by snagging a forest green shaggy winter coat. I had been stalking this coat on Topshop for over a month. The minute it went on sale my little fingers couldn’t click “Send To Cart” any quicker lol. I absolutely love it. It adds that extra special touch, and is really warm too which is perfect as we head into winter. I’ve been purchasing a lot of outer wear pieces lately because these New York City winters can be brutal and I definitely don’t want to do them without a little style and sass.

Twenties

Your 20’s…. my my my the best years and sometimes feels like the worst years of your life. It’s like you’re not a kid anymore but inside you still feel like you are and aren’t… weird concept but you get my drift. I mean just think about it, in a span of 10 years you probably will have experienced every emotion imaginable or at least it feels that way, you move into your first apartment, you fall in love, get your heart broken and vow never to love that hard again. YEA RIGHT lol…. You move to foreign places, you land your first entry level job at the company you’ve always dreamed about, you grind...party and grind some more, you take risks you never even thought about, and do things that are so random you have to stop and question yourself. Your 20’s…. you start to create your own businesses, you start looking at the future in a way you never really thought you would because that was for the old people right??? You go crazy with your friends, tell secrets you vowed to take to the grave and you laugh boyyyyyyy do you laugh a lot.

I say all this to say, you find out who you are in your 20’s. It’s like you go on this personal journey with yourself to find out who and what makes you…. YOU. While I don’t turn 30 for another 3 years sometimes I find myself sitting back and looking at how much I have grown from 20 to now 27. I say to all you who are rushing… STOP. Enjoy the madness that makes you who you are in your 20’s. Allow yourself to feel every emotion you want to feel because your feelings are justified. Allow yourself to get hurt and learn from the hurt… trust me it always makes a better you in the end. Allow yourself to go on your own personal journey everything else is just background noise don’t listen to it. Get to know you and be happy with you. Allow your 20’s to teach, mold, and inspire.

Black Out

Hey ladies… so happy to be back. You guys have to bare with me as I’m getting adjusted to NYC living. It’s been officially 2 months since I moved here and I’m learning so much so fast, maybe a little too fast…like where to grab a great slice of pizza for cheap, how to hail a cab during rush hour, great vintage stores throughout the city, and of course what train cart not to get on due to the weird smell and lack of people lol,  but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I’m so glad I made this decision I feel so inspired and at home… like this is the place I’m supposed to be. Although I do miss posting on a regular basis I’m definitely going to try my best to remain consistent. Take care loves talk to you soon.

Growth

I know it’s been a few days since my last post but I have been trying to get things settled since I made my big move…. What move you might ask?... Well,  remember I told you guys I had something super exciting to share in my last post here it is….. I moved to New York City. Since arriving here, I really haven’t had much time to sit down and blog. I’ve been ripping and running around trying to get everything settled and squared away. Although my things are still kind of stored away in my luggage, and I have shoes piled in a corner that need a place to call home, I am truly loving everything this city has to offer and I’m excited to hit the ground running. I won’t lie, as many times I have visited this city it’s definitely a different feel when you call it home. I always knew I wanted to return, after working for CBS a few years ago. This place just captivates you and forces you to be about your business because no one else really will. I say all this to say… go out there and make things happen for yourself. If you’re not satisfied where you are in life, CHANGE IT! People never grow in comfort zones. It’s when we take a leap of faith, risk it all, that our dreams start to come true and we start to see the potential we have within ourselves to conquer our fears.  Just do it! Stop evaluating the shoulda, coulda, woulda’s and just do it because life is short, very short and we all only have an allotted amount of time on our clocks to make all our dreams come true. Now, don’t get me wrong you will have some ups and some downs but it’s all a part of the journey.
