Happy In My Own World

 

Hey guys… I feel like I have been away for soooooo long almost a month. YIKESSSSS!!!! The crazy thing is I have been shooting just have been too busy to update to the blog. So if you missed my fur number last week on Instagram I will try my very best to post it tomorrow. To be honest with you guys, these last few months haven’t been the easiest for me especially this past week having to take a trip to the emergency room. Sucks but S%&T happens right! The funny thing is with each doctor’s visit and trip to the ER I am learning more and more about myself kind of crazy right. But I count it all joy because life will have its ups and downs, ins and outs but that’s what molds and shapes us, and as long as I’m not dying I think I’m doing aightttttttttt!!!!

On another note, have you guys seen the Rita Ora by Adidas collaboration? So in LOVE to say the least. When I spotted this track suit in Adidas the other day I had to have it. My People

This week officially marks the end of summer. Bummerrrrrrrrr!!!!!! While I’m not looking forward to the freezing temperatures New York brings in the winter, I am excited about the Fall, over the knee boots, furs, hot cocoa, and of course layering up. To be honest, Fall is my favorite season of the year but I love New York summer’s. So, while the weather is still warm and I can rock a little sheer number I will.

On a more serious note, it truly saddens me when I begin to think about the current state of this country. I no longer believe “The land of the free” is so called “FREE” when black men are being slaughtered  for the color of their skin. It’s not a Black, White thing because neither you nor I woke up and decided you know what… I want to be White today or Chinese, or Indian, or any other race. It’s something we were born into. The issue is a love, hate thing and until this country can learn to love one another for the contents of their character and not their skin color more innocent black men will be killed. I’m disgusted and sickened by all of this. Saddened for my people. The only answer to these injustices is love. Vengeance belongs to God we will all have to answer Him one day. Now is the time for us as a people to come together more than ever. It’s not a time to be quiet. Let’s encourage one another to go back to school, get degrees, better our communities so we won’t have to fall victim to a system that is designed to kill us. We will become the system.

Lemonade

You guys know the saying “When you love something, buy it in every color”. Well I say when you love something buy it in every color AND buy it twice if need be. I know you’re probably thinking “huh Star?” but yes I’m serious. These shoes I am absolutely in love with this season. So, I went out and bought them in taupe and black (see previous posts). O! and this two piece well it’s actually just two of the same shirt. GENIUS! I know, I know I try just a little lol lol just kidding. I thought it would be cute to step out the box a little and try something different and I love the way it turned out.

Can I Get A Two Piece?

One thing I absolutely love about the summer is throwing on a simple two piece and heading out for lunch, or dinner or breakfast. (I’m hungry while typing this lol) This city seriously has some of the best spots to grab a bite to eat. Sometimes I wish getting dressed up, laughing with friends and spending unnecessary money could be my full time job. Vain… a tad bit but who wouldn’t want that lifestyle J On a more serious note, I grabbed this 2 piece from Zara recently and I love how versatile it is. I can throw this number on with sneakers or sandals and I can dress it up with heels. This will definitely be on repeat so don’t say I didn’t tell you so.

Sheer-Tings

I’ve really been into black lately (as you can tell from last week’s post) lol. Something about it is so sleek and edgy whether dressed up or down. So this past weekend this look was perfect for heading to my favorite brunch spot in the city with friends. I decided to go ALL black but played it up with different textures to add a little structure and pizzazz.   

Summer-Time

It’s officially summer in NYC. Whoop…..Whoooooop. J My favorite time of year here. I’m so looking forward to spending my weekends hanging with friends, at festivals, day parties, beaches and doing all the other random things one can stumble upon in the summer. While it won’t reach the 90’s until July, I’m loving the spring feel in the air especially because I can throw on a pair of my favorite jeans and an off the shoulder top and call it a day. Quick and easy!

Simplicity

Keeping it simple in an all black fit today. With temperatures warming up it looks like New York will actually have a Spring season, which I’m excited about especially having temperatures in the negatives this past winter. Today’s fit was a no brainier sometimes it’s just easy to keep it easy . All black does just that. 

Stripes on Stripes

Because it’s only right I stand on a ledge and almost break my neck and scrape my knees while everyone walking by watches for the sake of a blog picture. Makes sense right? Perfect sense! lol the things I do….

Heyyyyyy everyone so happy to be back posting a new outfit. I like this two piece so much just because it gives me multiple vibes. I’m thinking office with a blazer, date night, out with your girls, meeting a new guy, or just because you want to get dressed up and look cute, that never hurt a girl right? It just depends on the occasion and how you’re feeling. You can pair it as separates or combine the two like I did today for a full on striped mix. Either way it’s a great fit to have in your closet. 

Dear New York

Missing home just a tad bit today. I promise you any transplant New Yorker would tell you the same thing. It’s like you love this city and hate it all at the same time. Some days you just need to take a quick break and press restart, if not the city will consume every bit of energy left in you. This is my new home and I don’t regret moving here for one minute I mean after all my life has been nothing short of amazing since moving, but home is where the heart is and some days you just miss it. I guess it all just takes some getting used to and in the year and almost a half I have been here I’m sure you could say I have a lot more things to learn. Here’s to New York!!!!

Relaxed & Casual

Isn’t it lovely when you can find the perfect pair of relaxed jeans? To be 100% honest I don’t wear jeans too often, just because I find it so difficult to find a pair that fit exactly how I would like. Now, don’t get me wrong having a great pair of jeans in your wardrobe is a fashion must so I will say I love my high waisted jeans and skinny jeans. But when it comes to relaxed and casual yeaaaaa I have not hit that mark.  So when I snagged these bad boys I literally wanted to shout (insert church music). They have the perfect amount of give and are so relaxed and casual. They can be dressed up with a pair of heels and down with a great pair of booties like I did with today’s look.  #Score

On another note, I have literally been living in olive colors this season (see previous posts). The color compliments so many different skin tones. So just FYI you may see a lot more of it.
