Baked EyeShadows

Late last night I was up playing around with makeup testing out some foundations and eye shadows I haven't used in awhile and I came across my Baked Eye Shadow Quads. I completely forgot how much I loved using them. Ok.. so your probably wondering what the whole Baked thing is all about right? Well....these eye shadows can be used with water to create a higher pigmentation. Just wet the tip of your makeup brush pick up some of the product and apply it to your eyes. You will notice a huge difference from the wet application than the dry application. I did a swatch for you girls so you can see the huge difference. These baked shadows are PERFECT for creating a dramatic look or smokey eye! I've fallen back in love with them!

(Top) used eyeshadow with water then swatched. (Bottom) no water just the eyeshadow. Big difference huh!

"Hair Haven Chic"

Hey ladies meet Arionne Allen, she's this week's 'Hair Haven Chic'. This post is EXTRA special for me because Arionne was my roommate and teammate in college ;) She's the one who really inspired me to go natural. I still remember her cutting off some of my permed hair one night in the dorm. I was so nervous lol ;) but that's my girl! Love ya Ari. Ladies check out her hair journey.

1. How long have you been natural?

"Actually, I have been natural all of my life, so 25 yrs. My mother was the reason behind this. She had bad experiences with perms (burned scalps, hair falling out, etc.) not to mention, it could save her money.

2. What products do you use on your hair?

"I am actually still looking for the right combination of hair care products but the ones that I use often are:
Hair Color: Clairol Flaming Desire and Red hot Red (i use this because there is no ammonia in it)
Shampoo:  Original Creme of Nature (oldy but goody, my mom used it)
Conditioner: Pantene Pro-V relaxed & natural dry to moisturize (makes my hair feel soft and manageable after color treatments)
Hair Lotion: Olive Oil hair lotion (makes my hair soft), Carol's Daughter Hair Balm (light oil that won't clog the pores)
Gel: Jam regular hold (doesn't leave residue)
Leave-in Conditioner: Creme of Nature spray conditioner (leaves a nice sheen and smells great)

3. What styles do you ROCK the most?

"I love wearing my hair out after a lose two strand twist. It's no stress on my hair and looks good."

4. What challenges have you faced with your natural tresses?

"People have criticized me for wearing my hair natural (friends, family members, coworkers). As a child it would bother me, as I got older I realized it they didn't know better. It was an internal insecurity they possessed."

5. What words of advice would you give girls that are thinking about going natural?

"To be natural isn't just a trend, it is a life style! Love yourself, be confident always, even during your WORST hair days and embrace your natural  born beauty!!!!"

6. What would you say are the advantages to having natural hair?

"All of the different styles that i can wear (puffs, a fro, twist, braids) I can even wear it straightened if I wanted to. :) AND definitely not having to run for cover when it rains outside!"

Lashes

This weekend I'm going to embark on the journey of trying to put in some individual lashes. I picked these Dura Lash Lashes up from Target about a month ago and have yet to use them. They came with the glue, glue remover and a set of tweezers for application. This will be my very first time ever putting in individual lashes ;) So wish me luck lol :)  I will take some pics and may even do a tutorial so you ladies can see how it turned out.

Perfume Lust

So I was in Sephora yesterday because I am in search of a new perfume and I came across Marc Jacobs 'Daisy' perfume and I fell in love with it. Ughhh! this stuff smells absolutely amazing really. Its really soft with a floral sweet smell and it has a long wear. I sprayed a little on me at the store and HOURS later I could still smell in on me. I can't wait to go back and buy the shower gel and lotion. To buy this perfume at Sephora click HERE.

Five Carry-On Essentials

With summer coming to an end in about a month or two, ladies try and get your last vacays out the way before the fall breeze fills the air. BUT before you book that ticket and board that plane check out my TOP 5 Carry On Essentials.

1. Be Comfortable: for starters you want to wear something comfortable for your flight. So I suggest rocking a legging and tunic look. Leggings are SUPER comfy and look STELLAR if paired with the right shoes and top and tunics provide that extra room your looking for.

2. Small Pillow: I love to sleep even when I'm not flying so a pillow is an absolute MUST in my carry on.

3. Lipgloss: now I know there are a lot of regulations on liquids when it comes to flying but if you can....try to carry on a great long lasting lipgloss. (I love Covergirl and Victoria Secret) Lipgloss can INSTANTLY boost a face.

4. Gum: for those ladies who have constant ear popping while flying try bringing along some chewing gum to combat those popping ears.

5. MP3 Player: whether it's your phone or a separate device good tunes always make for a good flight!

"Have a little laugh at life and look for happiness instead of sadness. Laughter has always brought me out of unhappy situations. Even in your darkest moments, you usually can find something to laugh about if you try hard enough."

"Hair Haven Chic"

Meet Adjoa Monday this weeks 'Hair Haven Chic' who swears by her Miss Jessies Curly Pudding styling product. Check out her natural journey!

1. How long have you been natural?

"I actually have been natural my entire life. My mother was always against relaxers, so since I was a child I never received a relaxer. I had to endure my natural puff my whole life lol."

2. What are some of your favorite products?

"Recently I started using Miss Jessie's curly pudding and I LOVE IT. It leaves my curls defined and most importantly SOFT. I don't like to use mousse and alot of different sprays since most of them leave your hair texture kind of hard and flaky. I also use Garnier Fructis strength and length shampoo and conditioner. I love how soft it makes my hair feel."

3. What challenges do you face having natural tresses?

"The challenges are the humidity when you want to wear your hair straight. In order to combat this challenge I just attempt to wear my hair natural all summer lol. I just choose to wear my hair straight during the fall and winter months"
4. What types of styles do you normally ROCK?

"I like to wear my hair out and just lay down my edges with gel. My alternative is to just lick it back when I'm feeling lazy lol"

5. What's one product you love to use for your hair?

"Miss Jessie's Curly pudding! I swear by it cause I've been natural my whole life and have tried A LOT of different products. Nothing I had used has compared."

6. What are the advantages to having natural hair?

"Since I've always been natural my guess would be the advantages are that your hair is thick, healthy, and grows faster"

Outfit Of The Day

Last night I went out to eat with a friend it was a little on the cool side because it rained earlier so I decided to pair this blazer with a STELLAR green dress I bought years ago.
